When printing ID badges, gift cards or discount cards in-house, it is a must to secure all the tools and supplies that will be needed this is to make sure that the printing process will run smoothly. If you want to print full color cards using ID card printers such as Fargo, Evolis, Magicard, or Zebra, you also need to obtain the right type of PVC plastic card. Most ID cards used for printing ID badges are made from durable PVC card which has been fabricated with an extra coating that can tolerate the heat of the thermal dye process. If images or logos are to be printed on ID badges or other discount or gift cards, it is recommended that you purchase graphics quality PVC cards also called a “polished card”. Using polished or graphics cards, ink from the print ribbon will better remain to the card itself, resulting in crisp images and text.

When we say scratch-off cards or scratch card, the first thing that comes into our mind is lottery cards or cards that is used in gambling. The front part of the card usually shows the name or the game and the back part has the instruction on how to use the card or the mechanics of the game. The back portion also contains the concealed digits or pin. The PIN is usually covered by a color gray material. In order to reveal the code, the gray portion must be scratched off.

In order to produce the gray portion of the card, a specialized ribbon must be used. After the printing process of the card, the regular card printer ribbon is replaced by a special type of ribbon, and then the gray material is printed.

For those who want to print scratch-off cards or scratch cards, it is ideal to check the compatibility of the printer and the printer ribbon that you will be using to ensure a smooth printing process
